Harish Rao condemns farmers’ arrest in Adilabad district
Harish Rao, BRS legislator and former minister
Hyderabad: Former minister and MLA Harish Rao today expressed his displeasure over the arrests of farmers, who have not been given loan waiver. "It is a matter of shame that the Congress government was adopting undemocratic policies by propagating people's rule,”
He said while condemning the arrests of farmers at Talamadu in Adilabad district who were protesting the non-waiver of their crop loans, he criticised that the police orders to the farmers to not hold any kind of the protests was violation of their human rights. “Farmers protesting peacefully across the State are being detained in advance and arrests are being made. On behalf of the BRS party, we strongly condemn the undemocratic attitude of the government. Farmers are tired of roaming around collectorates, agriculture offices and banks as there is no loan waiver," he said.
Stating that the farmers were forced to come on the roads as they are clueless about their situation, Harish Rao said the State government had also failed to implement its Rythu Bharosa scheme. He claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy failed to keep his promise of waiving off all the crop loans by August 15 this year.
"The Congress party has become a curse for the farmers. The Congress rulers seem to have forgotten that a place where the bull cries and the farmer cries never improves," he said.
He also demanded that the government should immediately withdraw the cases against farmers in Adilabad and other districts and added that they would announce the party’s course of action in support of the arrested farmers.
